Governance and Services

The City of Lakeview is governed by an elected Mayor, Recorder/Treasurer, and Council of Aldermen from three districts with two positions from each district.  Office hours (14 Skyles Lane) are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The city also has a Planning a Zoning Comittee, a Building Inspector and a Police Department.

The City Council meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the city Civic Center.

Grover Township Fire Department serving Lakeview has a fire insurance rating of 4 from the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), based on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the best rating. Factors considered in the rating are numerous but include the community’s fire services, such as water supply, storage capacity and flow, fire alarms, communications system, fire companies and their locations, and testing procedures. Residents may find out from their insurance companies exactly what dollar amount the ISO rating translates into.

Lakeview is in the Mountain Home School District , grades K-12.  A branch of Arkansas State University is a 2-year college offering associates degrees in Arts and Sciences.  It offers non-academic community service courses as well.


Over 100 physicians, dentists and specialists serve the community.  Baxter Regional Medical Center is well established with over 300 beds.  The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System operates a clinic in Mountain Home near the medical center.  The Air Evac Lifeteam offers an affordable membership for residents of the region in case of the need for urgent medical air lift.
